The June, 2006, issue #43 of the newsletter is a real dandy. Miss Lana is right in her 3 articles that she has in it...Terry Bethel's friend, Kenny Brant is all she says he is. I've heard him sing, my, what a voice. It seems like he has a heart bigger than Texas. And she's right about Ron Elliot, he is one of those rare players. He can play it all. Being a preacher, I certainly enjoy his gospel albums. She talks about playing a steel guitar. She talks like she's been playing, but if the truth were known, I believe she's been listening to Terry Bethel. He can give you a ton of information on the steel guitar. Miss Lana sure is a good writer...very interesting.
Bobby Hempker is a good writer, too. His article in the newsletter sure kept my interest. Although I've never got bored trying to play the steel 'cause it keeps me wide awake...feet, knees, hands.. But I bet Bobby can play all those licks in his sleep as long as he's been playing. And what an accomplished player he is! Bobby is one of the players at the Branson Jam, July 30th at the Baldknobbers Theater. You've just got to be there! The doors open at 10:30, the show starts at 11 a.m. Bobby will be joined by Scotty, Joe Wright, Russ and Laney Hicks, Randy Beavers, Fred Justice, Mike Sweeney, Mike McGee, Buck Grantham, Terry Bethel, Jerry Newberry & Austin Stewart, and Dean Holman. Bring a car load of your friends. You'll not be disappointed! It's one more show! See you there! |

Thanks for all those kind words. I treasure the opportunity to write about great people. That article on Ron Elliott is the Featured Artist article from the March issue of the Picker's Club newsletter. Just an example of what you get with the membership. Each month I select another player to learn about and then share with our members. It is such an experience. And the learning! WOW!!!
Truth be known - yes I listen to every word Terry Bethel has to say. Every chance I get. I have learned so much from him it blows my mind. But really I listen to all steel players and gain just a little bit more with every conversation. And when I don't quite know what they're talking about, I store the information until I get all the pieces together, or I talk to Terry - whichever comes first.
And Kenny - the article I wrote about him only scratches the surface of his character. You'll not find a nicer, more genuine man. Much like you Mr. Hanley!
Thank you again for the compliment, I'm happy to know you enjoyed my articles.
Miss Lana

Jeremiah...I, as well got the news booklet yesterday...I like you love the gospel music..Hoping to make it down to the show this year..Also understand, TDERRY is doing a new album, which will have 'WHEN THE RING THOSE GOLDEN BELLS' on it..Maybe you could talk him into adding a couple more gospel tunes on the album..I got the last album he did and it is just fantastic...Some real nice pedal moves and squeeses on that one..It is one you keep listening to, instead of shelving it after hearing it a couple of times...DAN HOFF |

I am glad everyone got their newsletters. As you can tell the printers goofed up the center section, but Miss Venda Hanley did a super job in getting all the information out to everyone, of course Jeremiah helped a little.
Thanks everybody for hanging with me.
The OzarkSGA salutes you all,
