Several years ago Venda and I attended Jeff Newman's June Jam near Nashville, TN. The steel players were Jimmy Day, Junior Knight, Johnny Cox, Curley Chaulker was there but didn't play, Larry Sasser, Lloyd Green, and of course, Jeff Newman. Each player had their turn to begin a song and played it where you could recognize it and then the rest of the players played lots of runs, etc. That was my first time to ever attend a jam like that. Now the jams that we have in Branson are a lot more enjoyable to me because not very many of us make a living playing the steel. So we can have a lot of fun playing our steels without thinking we have to compete with someone else. June 19, 2011 will be our opportunity to have a good time. A lot of us missed going to the April jam but I'm sure the ones that were there had a great time. Heads up!! Information will be coming about the July Show! See ya!! Oh, wait a minute, for you that haven't been there.....this jam will be at the Branson Community Center. It's from 1-5 p.m. You are more than welcome to come and bring your steel guitar and enjoy the afternoon with us! There's no charge! _________________ Jerry and Venda |

Jerry, we are going to try to make it if "One Way Flight" is not booked that evening. I have not seen a June schedule for "One Way Flight".

Hey if my boss, Mel Tillis doesn't Put anything else on the schedule, I will be there.
For those that didn't come to the April jam, Shame on you.
I had a ball. I dug out my double six string steel. A picture of me and the double six string is on the website. www.ozarksteelguitar.com
I wanted to see if I could still play without pedals. It really made my mind work to remember that I didn't have any pedals and only 6 strings..
The steel has a great tone. It is a single coil pickup with no hum. It is however very microphonic.
It is approximate 61 years old and everything works fine. I do need to get to Eddie Lane (Branson's Steel Guitar Goo roo) and get the controls cleaned. They are a little scrathy.
I am looking forward to the June Jam and hope we have the Community Center full of steel guitars.
See you there

Well, this is the month for the June Jam in Branson. Everything I said in my previous remarks is still true and valid. Like Terry said, "I hope the Community Center is full of steel guitars that Sunday afternoon!" By the way, that date is June 19 at 1-5 p.m. Venda and I hope to be there, 'cause we sure missed seeing you all at the last jam. We'll be doing our best to get there from Nashville, TN. Our granddaughter is getting married on the 18th, so we'll have to boogie home, but we're planning on being there.
Also, Charlie said the DVD's of the February Branson Show are ready! The cost is $25. Some of you have already paid and Joey Riley will make sure you get yours! For more information email Charlie Steichen.
