E9: Looooonnnnngggggg Single Note Runs TABS

Post by Josh Sharpe »

Hey Folks,

I was wondering if anyone has any tabs (or tips) of some long single note multiple string runs. I've heard numerous examples of what I'm talking about, but the only one I can think of at the moment is in a Drive-by Truckers' song that I heard today. Its called "Mama Bake a Pie". The lick I'm talking about is in the first verse right after the lyric "Since I won't be walking, I suppose I'll save some money buying shoes." You can hear it at the link below.

If anyone has any tabs or could give any tips on similar licks (even longer licks would be great) I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks Fellow Forumites,

Single Note Run...

Post by Dick Sexton »

Josh, this isn't exactly correct. But it is how it could be approached. I hear it as a scale run, with a little pedal action at the end. I am just now learning to use the 9th and 7th strings in these scale runs. Loads of music there. Scales are the key... And really, all there is. How they are manipulated, is where the music lies.

Mama bake a pie

Post by Phil Caine »

Hi all
Can anyone shed any light on the lick the steel player plays about three quarters throgh the song after the words '4th Grade'? It sounds really effective.

Thanks
Phil

Dick, your "sky-drive" is a great idea!! I like having that "zip" file of the folder there. I was wondering if you could also create a zip file of the "Intro and Breaks" folder as well as the "Mickey Adams Tabs" folder. I realize it is possible to go into either of those and individually download a tab, but it would be nice to pull down all of them at one time, for those that want to do that. Thanks for ALL your work on here, your tabs have been very useful as I find my way on this contrapion.

Zip Files

Post by Dick Sexton »

Thanks everyone... Appreciated the good words.

Chuck, I'm just recovering from a computer crash, I will try in the near future to Zip those files if I can recover them. I do see the need...

My best to all...

Chuck, I just went to my Sky-drive and highlighted the folder I wanted to download. It gave me the option of downloading it as a Zip file... You might try that here: http://cid-594320d13092d8fb.office.live ... ments.aspx

Let me know if it works.

Tried that, and I can either leave comments, share, or view the properties. I don't get an option to download the entire folder. If I click on the folder, it immediately opens the folder and displays all the contents. At that point I could download each one separately, but it doesn't seem to allow non-owners of the files to do anything with the entire folder. But, I'm not a pc wiz, so I might be overlooking something. My sympathies on the HD crash.

Thanks Chuck, I'll have another look...

Try this Chuck... http://cid-594320d13092d8fb.office.live ... ed%20Files

I created a zip folder to put zipped files in. These are big, may take a bit to down load even zipped, even one at a time.

If this works, I'll be able to put any of my files in the zip folder to be downloaded as a zipped file.

Again, let me know..

It sounds like "July 4th Parade". The steel part is similar to one in this thread.
Try 345 at frets 11 and 13 with the A pedal.
