Age of a Lab Series L9?

Hey, guys, I have two Lab Series L9 amps, one is black face and the other has the bronze color face. I'm pretty sure the black-face is the newer version. Also was wondering if the serial number indicates the age somehow. Can anyone enlighten me on this? Thanks.

Check for date codes on the components. Often, caps, transformers, tubes, and tube sockets have date stamps on them. Sorry I don't have any pictures of examples to show you.

That may be true, but I've not dated any women except my wife for about 26 years now, so I've about forgotten how that would be done...
