tone control for pedal steel

Hi everyone,
Im in search of an independent tone control for a pedal steel guitar. I was thinking of a small box that would plug into the guitars input and stay seated there and the volume pedal would plug into it. I was thinking of a a unit with a tone pot that one could use quickly to achieve a boo-wah effect on the pedal steel like Kayton Roberts does on his straight steel. Does anything like this exist or has anyone built one that may be able to provide some assistance?

I built such a thing a couple years ago. I carry it just in case an amp is too bright. Pretty easy if you just use a simple guitar-style tone circuit.

The Matchbox is a great add-on tone control, but I don't think you'll get a boo-wah effect out of it. Maybe if you changed the tone pot to a different taper.

The Matchbox or the Sarno FreeLoader will let you control tone, but if you want to do the boo-wah tone thing maybe a Fender volume / tone pedal is the way to go.

it's probably best just not to do the boowah thing!
