Hi It's a device that Carter guitars use to make all the three pulls on the B pedal start and end at the same time. there is a post about it here on the forum.
I need a photo to see how it's fitted.. |

I have two geardowns on my Dekley (-88 mod), but that's on round axles so extra bellcranks are freewheeling on existing axles.
On PSGs with square axles you need an extra axle with one or two bellcranks for each geardown, placed somewhere between the regular bellcrank axle and the changer.
On the Carter PSG one bellcrank is mounted backwards on the extra axle for rod hook-up from the regular bellcrank/axle, and one bellcrank mounted the right way on this extra axle for the rod going to the changer.
Got no pictures I'm afraid, as I have no Carter. |

Here's a pic of my Carter D10. Its got a Pedal 0.
The geardown spans 2 crossbars at bottom.

On my 12-string Mullen (pre-Royal Precision) I pull all 3 G#'s to A's on Pedal 2. They are all timed just right, starting and stopping at the same time, without the use of a geardown device. Here is how I achieved it. My guitar has 5-hole bellcranks.
String #3 - Hole #5 (Farthest from the guitar body)
String #6 - Hole #1 (Closest to the guitar body)
String #10 - Hole #1 (Closest to the guitar body)
On the changer end, my guitar has 3 raises.
String #3 - Hole #3 (Farthest from the guitar body)
String #6 - Hole #1 (Closest to the guitar body)
String #10 - Hole #3 (Farthest from the guitar body)
