I wouldn't recommend cutting them. Sell or trade with someone who likes a long bar and get one or two that suit you. What are the dimensions? For example, I have two standard-size BJS bars (7/8" diameter, 3-3/8" long) and at some point, I would like to trade them for wider/longer ones - ideally 15/16" diameter and 3-1/2" or 3-5/8" long.
Selling/trading is pretty routine here.
PS - this belongs in probably pedal steel (for info, since these bars are mainly used for pedal steel) or For Sale - Amps and Accessories (if you want to sell or trade).
