Greetings! I'm new to this site as well as new to slide playing. I've recently discovered the magic of Kayton Roberts which I'm sure many of you guys have known about for years. Anyway, I know Kayton plays a Fender Guitar but does anyone know what type of amps he uses for his tone. He is truely amazing!!!
Cheers,
Joel |

I played a show one time in Michigan that Had Hank Snow and his band playing and I sit and watched with amazement at Kayton's playing. This was many years ago and I watched some of his youtube video's and he still has it. What an amazing player he is and look no pedals.RS _________________ Franklin D10 Stereo - 8 and 6 - Black Box-Zum Encore 4 and 5 Nashville 400,Session 400, DD3 for delay ,also Benado Effects pedal.

For amps, he has used Deluxe Reverbs for much of his career as well..maybe even the same one? |

When I saw him at the 7th Canadian Steel Guitar Show last year in Caroline, AB, he was still playing his 1951 Fender D-8. He told us that he "still had two more payments to make on it!" I guess it must be paid off by now?! Great Musician - and comic!! See my photo following. Not sure that was HIS Webb amp he was using?

I've been a several shows where he has performed and I've talked to him before or after. He's an amazing musician and a very friendly fellow. I'm glad that there is still people like that around. _________________ Sierra Session D10, Rickenbacker, Fender, Session 400, Classic 30, Harke |

Kayton is simply the best non-peddler showman period. He is also the friendlyest human being on the planet. One of a kind. Kayton uses a Fender Deluxe!!! I suspect that he would get great tone no matter which amp he chose to play through...jeff |

It was always a treat to hear Kayton playing behind Hank Snow at the Opry. The man never failed to amaze me with his tone and technique. He definitely has that golden touch. For those of you that think musicians get rusty as they age, all I have to say is go take a listen to Kayton and that theory goes out the window.

Total agreement as to Mr. Kayton Roberts. Here is an example of his flawless steel backing on a Cox Family album:
