Tribute To Ralph Mooney

Post by John Feldman »

Exactly one month to the day before Ralph Mooney passed away, we were waiting for the rest of the band to arrive for rehearsal and I had my 1961 Double Sho-Bud Permanent (six pedals, pre-knees, actually set up for playing standing up) plugged in and we decided to do a little Crazy Arms. I am not saying it is anything great, but it was cool that we had it recorded, and so we put it up on Youtube. If you want to see it, I think this is the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyUmo_qmgfQ
It was meant to show our respect for him, and I hope you think it does...

John, a fine tribute to a great steel player. Ralph Mooney was one of the best in my book. Your playing was great too!

Thank you, Roger. When I was 17 (37 years ago) I had the thrill of my life when I got to back Wynn Stewart, and all I wanted to do was create that Mooney sound behind him...

I think this one was from Ralph's final recording session - correct me if I am wrong.

Hey TB
That one is as good as Tammy & George or Loretta and Conway and all the other great duets . Outstanding . And classic steel backup as well .
Liked the Shane Worley one as well , any idea who is playing the "Moon" on that one ?
And of course Al Briscoe's great tribute I never tire of seeing Al play this one .
