I may be able to buy an old Silvertone 6 string lap steel and amp this weekend at an estate sale. The steel has one silver pickup, two knobs and the cable comes out of the guitar bottom. The amp is wood, controls in the back, one red light that does come on. The amp looks like an early wooden radio with scroll cut outs on the wood front. I plugged them up and I did get a noise like an instrument cable was bad.
Any idea as to the worth of this or is it even worth fooling with?

Photos would be extremely helpful in determining what you are talking about and guessing what it might be worth.
Sears branded lap steels, guitars and amps were made by Harmony, Kay and Valco at various times. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

Can't take any pictures until after the estate sale is over. But afterwards I will IF I get to buy them. |

Walter, as with any amp you're interested in that has been sitting for years, the last thing you want to do is turn it on prior to a qualified check up, it'll usually assure it's not working well and a more expensive doctor bill.
For the combo, if it's nothing special and in fine condition, $400 should probably be tops from an estate sale. |

The outfit sold at close to the asking price the first day of the estate sale. I sorta, kinda wanted it but someone else thought it more valuable than me. |
