"Could I Have This Dance" is a 1980 single by Anne Murray, included in the film "Urban Cowboy". The single went to number one for one week and spent a total of ten weeks on the country chart. Written by Wayland Holyfield and Bob House. Also a popular Hawaiianized number, sung by Denis Pavao

Played here on A6 Steelocaster and Stratocaster, Sampling keyboard and Martin acoustic guitar accompaniments by me. Keys of A and G.

Really nice, Kay. I've always liked that song. Great single string work, but I REALLY liked that last chorus, where you're playing those harmony notes. Sounds really good.

The good old A6th tuning. With a two or three pedals expanding just a few chords it becomes IMHO a style all by it's self. It is so solid with a big sound.

Thanks, gents. Yes, A6 is a splendid tuning, especially if you are trying to portray Anne Murray's contralto range.

Also there really ought to be more 3/4 time signature recordings on steel than there are. I had been looking for good backing for that tune, ended up doing all tracks myself. I will post details of approach to this tune another time.

Flawless, like everything else Kay plays. I had forgotten that tune and it is good to hear it again.

Thank you, gentlemen, much appreciated. I seem to recall a particularly sweet version by Roy some moons ago...
