I tried recording into Audacity from a tape deck. It only has ear phone jack out... I tried going into mic in on the computer, & tried going into line in, but the signal is really strong, even if I turn the Input volume way down, & the volume is turned down on the cassette player... any suggestions.. Going into the turntable & then to the computer is even worse..

Don't know much about a USB turntable, but I can tell you the best software to burn your vinyl to CD is Magix..Not only can you convert to mp3,but you can clean and remaster all your tracks..It's the best software I have ever used for vinyl transfers..

Your best bet is a real turntable hooked to a stereo reciever or a power amp of some sort..You'll get a wonderful response.. ;-)
