What is a National 1050 worth?

Post by Alan Brown »

I have lurked on the forum for a couple of weeks and have a question I hope some of the more seasoned members can help me with.

I recently acquired a Rickenbacker DC-16 and need to sell my old guitar to keep my wife happy.

The guitar is in great shape. Everything sounds good, no static, hum, or anything. It does need new strings. The case is the original case and is in pretty bad condition (although it does close).

Also, would you recommend selling here or on eBay? I've sold on eBay for several years (mostly junque that I no longer need). I am familiar with how that process works, but I would really like the guitar to go to someone who will play it. That is why I am asking about selling it here instead of on eBay.

Thanks for any advice.

Without photos, it's hard to guess at a value.
Elderly Instruments had one for sale for $885. I've seen them in the $400-900 range depending on condition.
If you want to sell it to someone who will use it, sell it on the Steel Guitar Forum.

Yes, I'd say about $550, give or take $100 depending on condition.

There are two listed on eBay now. One is listed at $999 (no bids) and the other is $500 (no bids), and it's a little beat up.

Thanks Brad and Doug. The only negative to what I have is that the case is in pretty rough shape. Does that effect the value? I am posting some pictures here of the guitar.

The guitar from Elderly is a lap only model. Mine has the legs. Does that mean more as far as value is concerned?

I am posting some pictures here of the guitar.

Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it.
