I borrowed a quote from someone above here as I am just to sad to write anything at this time..
" That's very sad news! Ralph Mooney was one of my Steel guitar heroes, it hurts to see him go. May he rest in peace.
My sincere condolences to the Mooney family."
Thank You for what you did for the world of steel guitar & for not copying the others!

"Tone is in the hands. Unless your wife will let you buy a new amp. Then it's definitely in that amp."
We need to turn the TWANG up a little
It's not what you play through, it's what you play through it.
They say that tone is all in the fingers...I say it is all in your head
Some of the best pieces of life are the little pieces all added up..Ron
the value of friendship. Old friends shine like diamonds, you can always call them and - most important - you can't buy them.

I was thrilled to have met MR. MOON and hear his pickin' in Dallas last year. I grew up hearing him back all the top singers from California and around the country.
Theresa and I send our love and prayers to all his family and friends.
See ya in Heaven Moon.

Words cannot express the overwhelming feeling of loss. Many condolences to the Mooney family. Thanks Ralph so much for all of the inspiration and great music. You are the reason I started to play steel. I'm so glad I got to play Above and Beyond and Rainy Day Woman in my band yesterday.

Like eveyone else here on the steel forum and all those that knew Ralph Mooney, I loved him dearly.
Just wasn't anymore a down to earth or kinder person than my friend Ralph Mooney.
I knew him since the late 1970s, not as long a some of you all, but I am just so proud to call him a friend.
Ralph Mooney loved Jesus and he is with THE LORD now! Of that I have no doubt. I want to pray for his sweet wife and family and friends and may GOD bless them and give them HIS peace now. Thank YOU LORD for sharing Ralph Mooney with us all! In JESUS name!
GOD bless you brother Ralph and we will be seeing you someday on the otherside thanks to our LORD and SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST! AMEN!

Another one gone. Condolences and love to Ralph's family and friends. But I happy that we have the wondrous recordings to listen to. It seemed to me that Waylon and Ralph were made for each other; together they sounded like of couple Cajun fiddlers on the wrong instruments. And it sounded so-o-o good.

Bless you and RIP Mr. Moon. You weren't out front, you didn't sing, but you always wove the silver and gold threads into the fabric of every song you touched.

This is sad news for me too. I learned to play his style when I began picking steel guitar, in 1974. I still play his style on Rainy Day Woman.
