Big jam at the Spinning Wheel in Canby Oregon April 30th. Load in at noon, we start playing at 1:00. Bring your power strips and extention cords. Kindling will be the host band, lots of good old country music. We will take up a donation to help pay for the band.
We have done this in the northwest since the late seventy's. Every so often we get the itch to do it again, so start scratching.
You have questions I have the answers.

These steel events are great for beginners who want to see what the "old guys" really do. We have a lot of players who have played over 25 years, most of them are still active in great local bands.
Anyone looking for a place to park their RV can stay at my place, only 7 miles from the jam.

Larry, if this jam is only half as good as the one you organized a few years ago, it will still be amazing.
Which is to say, we have more than our fair share of steel talent in this region(excluding myself, of course). This should be a great jam!
See ya'll there...

Bump. I am so slammed at work and gigs that I really doubt I'll make it. Sunday's a rehearsal day for some upcoming stuff. Too much guitar work to do besides. My fingers have finally stopped bleeding.
These things are great here in PDX, and the Host Band is the REAL DEAL. Robin Susskind is real lucky to be in a band that plays real country. Luckier still are they for having Him. That stack of Hot Fender Tubers is beyond compare.
Plenty of shrill, screechy, ear piercing, pedal stomping for those conniseurs of such. Maybe even some room for non working, toneless retro-plastic lapless lap steelers.
I'm sure Pete Burak will come share the new directions he's taken The Instrument, Felix will put on a new coat of GF and his new Sho~Bud™"lineless" Velcro™ Corset, Doug Jones will have his New Graphite Golf Clubs for the "Across 99E Driving Contest", Larry Behm will be onhand with the guts of his Steel King strung out on his music stand, and hooked up to a dozen multi-axis JBL 8"ers, and there might be a Hoodia Free Sample Booth.
If I'm guessing right, the food, in the New Spinning Wheel, with Dick Carson will be hard to beat.
We'll see, but either way, it'll be hard to miss.

I'm working 12-hour shifts Sun-Wed now, so I don't think I can make this one.
Had a great time at the last one, though!
Have Fun!

Ric call Ray and kick him in the butt, he just might surprise you. He plays great lap steel and has a killer sounding PP.

I am a beginner don't even have my Williams yet wish Bill could get it done by then I'm looking at about 3 more weeks. Would be a very good learning experience for me. I live in Umpqua so I'm not to far from you. Sure sounds tempting. Would you mind a rookie still wet behind the ears coming to obsorb knowledge. I can sing I have been a front man for years but you folks might be a little too intimidating for me. |

Gotta bump this one.
If you're anywhere west of the Misis..Mississ...well you know.. You gotta catch this one. I'm sure gonna try to make it.
Great new Reopening of one of the GREAT country clubs in PDX.
The Band, Kindling, is worth the trip alone.
I'm serious about the Food too. Dick Carson, I understand the new manager, has always been involved with Country Music, Singing, playing, and cooking himself in some of the best clubs in Portland, the food has got to be the finest around.
Make it if you can.

Eric I hope to see you there. We had one about 2 years ago at the same location, I was told we had not had one in 10 years prior to that. Gosh time flies we use to have them every couple of years or so. Between Doug Jones in Eugene, Wally Giffin in Tacoma and Harley James and myself in Portland we were never lacking for a jam. We started these jams in the 80's, are we really that old.

Settle down, guys, I was gonna post a real message containing actual relevant communications anyway...which is that I most likely won't make it down there until after 1:30pm so save me some floor.
Drove by there yesterday on my way home from Corvallis and saw lots of folks parking and heading on in to eat, so far it looks very encouraging for the old Spinning Wheel.

I'm planning to head down there myself inbetween a recording rehearsal. I might have to sit in on somebody's axe as mine will be set up and between "sessions" in the basement where I'm in the middle of stuff. I"m not getting enough weekend these days..
I'm sure gonna get a good earful anyhow, and eat some FINE food.
Gotta run. Jubitz with Petey tonite.
