FREE gospel tab for March: A Mighty Fortress Is Our God

Post by Erv Niehaus »

This month we're going with a more formal gospel song, actually a hymn.
It was written by Martin Luther in 1529: "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God"
During this period in his life, Psalm 46 was a great comfort to him and this hymn is based on that Psalm.
"The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress" Psalm 46:7

The tab for this great old hymn is available for the asking and, as usual, it is written for the E9th tuning.

Brother Andy,
You bet I'll send you that tab.
You're lucky they still sing that song in your church. There are so many churches that have abandoned the songs we are so familiar with.
I don't like to "sing off the wall". I want to hold a hymnal in my hand when I sing.
We must be getting old! :whoa:

Erv,
I played my 6-strings in two differrent churches for about three years, before our piano player and bass player retired and moved away (NC). Now, God's calling me to get back to playing for him.

"A MIghty Fortress" is like the Lutheran Church National Anthem! :D :D :D A copy of the tab, please.

Tab arrived today!

Post by Glenn Uhler »

Thanks, Erv! My tab arrived today. I'm really excited to see that you are using the F# to G change on your PSG. I was thinking of putting that change on my Pedal 0 (next to the A pedal, so I was wondering if you had any examples using that pedal in tab?

Glenn,
I've used that change in the past on my tabs but I just can't tell you where.
It's very handy to use to get a 7th chord.

G pedal

Yes, Erv, for 7ths and minors, too, when needed.

Have you found a baritone uke yet?
