Best contemporary steel breaks
Brad Paisley's Waitin' on a woman. According to Allmusic it's Randle Currie, and it is a really cool break

Re: Breaks
I heard a Jamey Johnson tune on sirius satellite the other day. Steel playing was good, caught my ear, very unique. Who is that? Not sure of the tune...it was a cover.Brad Nelson wrote:Just put in Jamey Johnson CD That Lonesome Song and let'er play. Brilliant.

Jamey Johnson's steel player is Cowboy Eddie Long. Jamey features Mr. Long extensively throughout his CDs. I think his playing is brilliant. I prefer "That Lonesome Song" to "The Guitar Song" but they're both worth owning.

Great contemporary breaks
Randall Currie on Brad Paisley's "The Water"
Paul Franklin on Jimmy Webb's "Do What You Gotta Do"
Dan Dugmore on Johnny Mathis' "Shenandoah"
Paul Franklin on Dave Peterson's "You're Too Easy to Remember" (okay not commercial, but an incredible break)
Best,
Gerald
