Big Sandy & His Fly Rite Boys are coming to town, has anyone seen them recently and if so, did they have a steel player with them and who is he?

Hi David, I've seen that photo with Lee, but I'm still wonderin if they're tourin with a steel player. I guess I'll have to wait till that night to find out. They're sharin a bill with 3 other acts at a Mardi Gras party downtown and only $10 gets you a reserved seat. Smile

I think Jeremy Wakefield used to play with this group. Possibly he could be playing with them !

I'm not sure if they carry a steel player these days. I did a couple gigs with them in Texas on there last run here. Great band and a great show !

Lee is not in the band anymore, unfortunately. The last couple of times I saw them, they had no steel player.

Lee does have a great new band called the West Coast Ramblers:

I saw them Wednesday. No steel on that night. I may be wrong, but I don`t think Lee has been with them for a while. Super cool guy, and great player.

yessir that is an old band Photo. Lee left the group many years ago and the job was filled by Jimmy Roy (formerly of Ray Condo's band)for a long time. They now tour with no steel although I did catch them at the Continental show with my Buddy Bob Hoffnar sitting in. Excellent job, Bob!

Looks like Jeffries is playing a D-8 with pedals--but what brand is it?

Where's Ashley?

My band had the pleasure of opening for Big Sandy for three nights in Central City, CO, including New Years Eve. They currently have no steel player and they invited me to sit in on a few numbers. I have loved this band for 15 years and it was a blast to finally get to play with them!

Big Sandy came to the gig by himself. Geoff's band the Twilight Drifters backed him up. They didn't use their steel player either.
