I guess you can tell from the picture why I’m so very happy
After some instructional lessons from Billy Robinson on his guitar (a one of a kind Derby)
For a long long time after that. in my mind I’ve had a dream steel guitar. And Martin made my dream come true.
The Scale, String spacing, pickup size, pickup brand, and model, was taken from Billy Robinson’s guitar.
Billy came down last weekend and we went over to Martins house to see the guitar (almost done) and he was really impressed
Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would have a steel this nice, and with such a great tone and sustain
God has been good to me with a beautiful wife, life and steel guitar

Thanks Howard and Randy
The pickups are 12-1. It is the same as 10-1 but wider
I loved Jimmy Day's tone, Billy Robinson's and Ron Elliott's too
Also the Derby fret boards (Thanks Margit) are 12 string because the spacing is 3/8

Nice D-10. I love that string spacing. Do you need that pedal bar on the bottom? Does it add stiffness to the set-up?
last question: what does that control box in between the necks do? I assume it is a selector switch and vol and tone knobs, but it looks like a floor pedal or something? _________________ To write with a broken pencil is pointless. |

Thanks Tom P, Tom W, and Ron W
Well Tom W. The Guitar is real solid.
The bar is to mount My Vol. control, DD-3 and BOBRO. When I get the brackets, The bottom of the bar has holes 1" apart all the way across.
The Tone knob is up high for WaWa effects.
The switch next to it turns the Tone control, on and off.
The last switch to the right, Switches necks and jacks.
reason for this,
with Switch to right puts back neck to right jack and Amp, and front neck to left jack and Tuner
with Switch to left puts back neck to left jack and tuner, and front neck to right jack and Amp.
You might want to read that again. IT WORKS!
The hole thing can be reversed, putting Amp on the left and Tuner on the right. Your option

Another classic steel guitar from the hands of master craftsman Martin (Mike) Weenick.
Enjoy it Danny. I know I love my SD-10.
Played it last night at the FSGC benefit show.

Well Jack I have Billy Robinson's C6 tuning on the back neck with a D on top and F on the bottom and he tunes his A's a little sharp.
Right now I have A6 on the front but Billy is wanting he and I to try some of Tom Morrell's tunings
I seen so many of his I don't know were to start.
Thanks everyone

Hi Danny, I really enjoyed talking to you again, and glad you
told me you got it. I must say it's the finest N/P I've ever seen.
I hope it will give you many years of the pleasure you deserve.
Sure wish you could make the Mt. Vernon show. You'll be missed.
Your friend up north.

Danny,
I believe this beautiful guitar was well worth the wait.
Looks like Mr. Weenick did a great job
building this "classy" looking non petal steel.
If it sounds half as good as it looks. It will
sound "awesome".As Barney Miller says "it's a
keeper".I know you are very proud of it.
I can't wait to hear you play it. There's
nothing like a brand new steel guitar to give you
inspiration.I remember Don Helms saying the first
time he opened the case of his '49 Gibson Grand console he said quote:
"It even smelled good,...you know how a new guitar smells".
I'm sure he would have loved this beautiful steel guitar. I think he
would have wanted Martin to build him one just like
yours.
I'll bet you'll be playing all kinds of new licks
the next time I see you. You'll have to share
them with me.I know if your getting
some pointers from the great Billy Robinson,You'll be doing some
terrific bar slants, because Billy the bar slant"King".
Danny,enjoy this fine guitar ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ Marlen S12, Fessenden S12, Cherokee D10
