I fixed my leg with Gorilla Glue

Post by Randy Wade »

The threaded steel plug kept coming out of one of my steel guitar legs and I had tried hammering it back in and I thought I would try Gorilla Glue on it, so I coated the plug and knocked it in with a hammer then clamped it with a yard long clamp (you always MUST clamp when using gorilla glue because it expands) and now it is tight and good as new! I have used it to fix many things since discovering it a couple years ago. Anyone else here use this stuff?

Don't you know that gorillas are an endangered species? Shouldn't be making glue out of them. :D

Not only that Kevin, but fixing legs with gorilla glue can become a real hairy experience.

Sorry Randy, but I just couldn't resist. :D
Hope you've got a good sense of humor.

Randy, Last summer I picked up a nail in the front tire of my riding mower. Didn't have any plugs so I pulled out the nail, got a short fat wood screw, coated it with Gorilla glue, spit on it and screwed it into the hole. Let it dry overnight, pumped it up and it's held ever since. Wonderful stuff!!

A little about the expansion properties of G-glue--
The insoles had come loose on an old pair of shoes I had been wearing to work--thought I'd glue them back down. I stuck'em down and spent the rest of the day walking around in the shoes. Long story short, I had to cut my socks off that night, leaving a silver dollar-sized peice of white sock welded (and I do mean welded!) to the ball of each foot! I had to let them wear off--took weeks.
Never used the stuff again :!:

I have sure enjoyed all the replies to this post, but Ron gluing his shoes to his feet is the funniest thing I've heard. The stuff does have some expansion but that's what makes it work so good. And Dave I think you are right, it is the best thing since duct tape for many applications.
