A big thank you to Bob Blair from Canada, for his donation of $100! :D

Another big thank you to Tribotone bars for a donation of $75! :D

Eric Ebner makes great bars, and he'll have a booth at the TSGA convention on the main floor. If you're at the convention, be sure to stop by and check them out. Eric is usually at his booth; but I have seen him sneeak away and visit the non-pedal room a few times, while his son minds the store. ;)

We are pleased to announce that all vendor tables have been taken! Our vendors this year are Mark Roeder, Herb Remington, John Allison, John Hatton, and Billy Robinson/Carco Clave. We'll also have a table set up for the artists who volunteer their time perform, to put their CDs for sale.

This is going to be a great show! If you're within driving distance, this is a great thing to come and see. And if you're within flying distance, this is a great thing to come and see!!

We received an anonymous donation for $100, in the memory of both Dave Giegrich and Rick Alexander...A very generous offering, dedicated to two of our dear departed 'brothers' of steel guitar.

We appreciate the suppport. All funds go directly to put on the show. Any amount is helpful; $10, $20, $25...I know times are tough, and I don't want people to feel they have to donate a large amount if they can't. I can keep the donation anonymous if you'd prefer...just be sure to let me know ahead of time.

Thanks again and stay tuned - the schedule is on the way!!

Mark.... thanks again for your generous donation....

That stand looks great!.....I'm placing my order for one right here, right now.....I see that it's set up for a 6 string which is fine....I'll also want a couple of additional neck supports for wider necks that I have.....I'll email the dimensions to you.....

Folks.....Mark makes the best stands IMO bar none!....if you're thinking about it, I can tell you that they are far better & more stable than the vintage tripod stands and less cumbersome than keyboard stands....plus they look great.....my playing may stink but at least I look good....although I can no longer blame my inaccurate slants on a wobbly stand....(must be that dang bass player)....

T-Minus 7 days and counting! :)

We still need back up help especially for bass, if anyone is interested.

I'm also in the process of securing a couple of rhythm guitars...one hollowbody electric, and one acoustic, with about 3 music stands. If anyone coming could supply any of those items (for people to use) please let me know. We take good care of everything.

So far on bass we have Scott Icnogle, Steve Alcott, Rick Blair, and two more possibilities I need to confirm.

On rhythm guitar we have available Carco Clave, Mike Neer, Ivan Reddington, Mark Moseley, Joe Snow, and John Seitz.

On fiddles, we have Renae Truex and Mark Roeder.

The more the merrier, so please join us if you'd like play back up...most of the songs are standards, or there will be chord charts.

Thanks!

:)

Non-Pedal Room - bass

Post by Bob Blair »

Jeff,

I thought I'd mention that I have talked my brother Rick into coming from Toronto. He is a well-schooled bass player - plays regularly around Toronto in jazz (including a monthly big band gig at the Chicken Deli) and R & B gigs ....upright or electric, whatever. He's a serious player - can play pretty much anything, reads charts etc. He also fronted some country rock bands on the road for a few years, so he's good with country standards and stuff. His plane gets in around 11 on Friday morning. So if you need a good bass player to round things out and there is an instrument you could probably prevail on him to help you out (in fact he'd be more than pleased I'm sure).

If you want I can get him in touch with you.

Regards,

Bob Blair

I'll have a guitar or two on hand. My intention is to bring one of my new electrics, though at this time they're still in parts and pieces. I believe at least one of those will be strung up and will make a nice electric rhythm/lead guitar. I'll also have my personal jumbo style guitar that's equipped with a great sounding pickup system. I'll probably bring another jumbo style acoustic, too - a cedar topped, "fingerstyle" guitar that should should sound really sweet as a backup for any acoustic lap style players.
I'm very happy to make them available for anyone who wants to play them.

Is Gerald Ross attending? Gerald??? He has been the backbone of the non-pedal rhythm section in past years and one hell of a player I might add;-)

Thanks John, the more instruments to chose from, the better...

Now, all we need are music stands, and we should be set...

Eric, unfortunately Gerald won't be able to make it this year....

Don... I think that he uses the kingpin from a Mack truck for the bar... a really, really solid sound.

Gibsons are usually heavy...I want to see him play it on his lap...as long is it doesn't crush him! :whoa:

Talk about a looong scale...I bet those harmonics are sweet!

He probably has to employ the "elbow harmonic" technique to get them. I'm wondering where he gets his picks.......

I've updated the schedule (above) due to a couple of last minute changes. There will probably be more, but I may not get a chance to post anymore corrections at this point, due to limited internet access while traveling...

Unfortunately, Herb Remington won't be able to join us this year, as Mrs. R. isn't feeling well, and Herb needs to stick close to home. We wish her a speedy recovery, and we'll be sure to play 'Remington Ride' and 'Boot Heel Drag' for him.
