This amp likes a 4 ohm load (althought it does do fine with 8 ohms, just less power). But the only combination of speakers I have that does 4 ohms is a THD cabinet with one JBL E130 (8 ohms), and a Jim Kelly cab with one JBL E120 (8 ohnms). I know it's a overkill, but I used both in series (it sure does sound nice). I suspect that the ideal for this would be a JBL D120 or D130 combined with a non-JBL like a Celestion.
This is the Little Walter with the tone all the way to the right. As you can tell with Dan's great examples, this is one versatile amp......You have to love an amp with only two knobs.....A volume and tone.....Paul
When I use my bridge pick (otherwise known as 'the pickup' to most steel players ), I need to back off on the tone knob a little. But then I don't have Paul's hands (Paul has a touch which adds body and fatness in a way that I can't match, so I just back off some of the high end).
Paul, I'd be honored to lend you my amp in Dallas if you aren't bringing your PF special.
Man, I hate you guys. Now I have to have one! Guess I'll have to have a big yard sale to clear out some of this other electronic clutter. Bah!
