SO who lives up in the Lehigh Valley area? From Allentown to Easton / Phillipsburg
I'm subbing for a band next week but they need someone from that area.
Email me for info

Player shortage in Lehigh Valley

Post by Glenn Uhler »

Hi Bo,
Wanted to introduce myself as another Jersey boy. It will be a long time until I am ready to play PSG in public again, but even I am a little too far away (Trenton, NJ) to think about driving up there to practice. That brings up my question: I can't remember any really good steel players in that area; even when I was growing up there forty years ago. There was plenty of country music, but no good steel players. Do you think it was because Eddie Alkire taught the Eharp system in Easton, PA and everyone (like me) who was interested in steel took up straight steel?

Gee Glenn, I don't know much about the Trenton area 40 years ago .. but there have always been good steel players in the NJ, local guys with good reputations from before my time and more than a few who moved south and got artists gigs.

I was refering to the Lehigh Valley forty years ago. I know that's a long time ago, but that's when I lived there. What part of NJ are you from?

Alright! I was in Rosenhayn, Bridgeton and Millville on Thursday. Below the Mason-Dixon Line.

Yeah, if you extend the real Mason-Dixon line east (an imaginary one), it's surprising how much of south NJ is below the real M/D line.

Sooo frustrating.. If they were a bit farther north, say Scranton, I would jump on it... At 165 miles away, just a bit too far... as always :x
I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

no gear list for me.. you don't have the time......

I hear you Bobby C .. I am sitting in this weekend but not sure about future dates.. even rehearsals would be a 3-4 round trip .. and I don't think the pay is worth all that ..

Hi,

I'm in Jersey City. I might be able to play in Lehigh Valley if there is free lodging.
