I recently bought a Marantz CDR510 Professional CD Player/Recorder and have been practicing with it to convert vinyl and 8-tracks to CD. (Yes, I said 8-tracks as I have a couple hundred) After making a CD of Merle's oldies that are not on his Boxed set, I pulled out a Millsap 8-track and started recording it to CD. It is the "Almost Like a Song" album. MAN, what some real country with heavy, heavy Steel and some Dobro. It has one of my favorites, "No One Will Ever Know" and I dont know if he does it better or Gene. This is a great album even if you dont like Milsap. He is great on this one. I will be putting about 26 songs from this 8-track and an album for my daily transport to and from work.

Funny thing, R.C....

Last week I was starring at my LP's and thought I need to convert the Ronnie Milsap LP you mentioned soon just to have ready access to Hal Rugg's ride on "No One Will Ever Know". I wasn't even looking at that LP, it's just one of a couple hundred on that shelf and includes several styles of music. But I thought of THAT album.

Hal's ride on that tune is a lesson and an example of why the great studio players are great studio players. Not complex but so tasty and effective. I can't say Hal was my friend, I think I talked to him twice briefly. But I sure do miss him every time I am at a major steel show.

Apologies if I am drifting.
