Interactive Excel Spredsheet - free for the taking

Post by Ed Baker »

Long ago, I designed two Excel spreadsheets that are useful for composing and learning things for the pedal steel.

There's one for that standard E9th tuning and one for the C6th.

I guarantee that these files are virus free and they consist of just the cell display and supporting macros.

You just load the sheets, and the pedal buttons at the bottom perform their normal pedal and knee lever operations. You can also change the open tuning by clicking on the notes at the nut.

Both sheets come "as is" and, as always, your mileage may vary with how useful you think they are. You must have Excel 97 or later to run these sheets. Don't ask to have them adapted to an older version of Excel. It's not possible.

Just send me an email and I'll forward them to you.

Interactive Excel Spredsheet

Hello all,

I've had quite a few response for the spreadsheets already, and all but one had them working "out of the box".

IF the display looks chopped off when you open the sheet, just grab the lower right corner and drag it out.

If you have trouble getting the spreadsheets working, you'll have to contact a local pc "guru".

I won't be able to help you remotely.

Remember two things: [1]make a copy before you use them [2] answer "NO" when it asks you if you want to save the spreadsheet.

Remember this too. This is "Freeware". Your mileage may vary.

happy steeling

Unfortunately, no.

You can change the open tuning at the nut.

But, the pedal pulls won't change.

It is easy to play the steel guitar. Playing so that the audience finds it pleasing is the difficult act.

Ed, thanks, for sharing these with me and the other Forum members. They will be of help to me even though I've been playing steel for years. Will REALLY be helpful to beginners.

Ed: I would like to receive the excel spreadsheet. I tried to send you an email more than a week ago, and it seemed to have gone through, but I haven't heard anything from you or receive the program. Maybe I did something wrong. I'll send another email right now and hope the message gets through. Thanks for your help. Paul
