Folks, here's what I have: I got this 1966 Gibson J-45 acoustic Flattop guitar like Boxcar Willie was playing. And the notorious/infamous "adustable saddle" in the bridge. Which, I won't argue with you, but it has "that" sound of 60's Gibson...

Anyway, because of the bridge design, you can't use conventional "Fishman" type "under the saddle" transducer. And for what I know, I think transducer works best under "pressure/stress" like string tension.

That's said, What happens if I "glue" a Fishman transducer(the under the saddle type; either 3/32" or 1/8") UNDER the adjustable saddle in Gibson, would it still work efficiently as if it's under the string pressure??

I hear simple "contact' transducer like old Bercus berry or new K&K system tends to feed back more at the same volume as to "under the saddle" type...is it true??
And Magnetic pickup like Sunrise or LR Baggs are totally different animal here.

What's your suggestion for '60's Gibson guitar???

Jason, I understand everything you're saying, and in fact, I did make a rosewood filler with a slut cut for Fishman and a bone saddle, and it works fine.(and it's easily reversible back to adjustable)
But, I was thinking someway to capture the "look" of the 60's Gibson ala Lennon's j-160 with adjustable bridge.

Talking about "tone suck", Jazzmaster bridge for Tele with Bigsby really sucks tone(too many lose parts there!), but it does have "that look".
For experiment, I replaced it with modified Tune-o-matic bridge and the attack and sustain came alive as no surprise... but the guitar doesn't look "stock" anymore. Oh Well
