So sorry to hear this, even though we all suspected it was coming. We will miss you Buddy. Thank you for all you did to help so many. I couldn't have done it without you. Kay Lee and the family will be in our prayers.

May God grant peace to the family of this man who has influenced so many of us in such a wonderfully positive way. We mourn and we send our love.
I never had a thought of being old or feeling old, until a few years ago I realized my HEROES were dying. Today I feel ancient. It's going to take me some time to get over this one.
Precious memories, how they linger
How they ever flood my soul
In the stillness of the midnight
Precious sacred scenes unfold

Buddy Charleton - Thank You
Buddy:
I know I speak for many of us musicians in the world of steel guitar and I want to thank you for your excellent contributions to our music world. You were truly an exceptional stylist who developed a tone and delivery of this beautiful instrument the years you were with Mr. Ernest Tubb and the Texas Troubadors. I must say and I have said it many times before, there has never been a pair of guitarists with the likes of you on steel and Leon Rhodes on guitar. The music you and he rendered still lives on in our hearts and it is as fresh today as it was back then. Rest in Peace Buddy and God Bless Kaylee.

Another Hero gone.
I list Buddy Charlton as one of my early influences when learning pedal steel, as we had a local DJ (Ted Daigle at CKBY in Ottawa, Ont.) who would play Texas Troubabor instrumentals.
I never got to meet him personally...seems I missed the years he played at Scotty's Convention.
Rest In Peace,
Al Brisco

I could never express in words what an impact Buddy had on me as a steel player and a friend. The time I got to spend with him was when I was between 13 and 17. Most of that at the Opry and E.T. record shop. Buddy taught me more than he knew. I will miss him so much. It's my understanding that Buddy will be cremated and a memorial service will be held soon.

I am so sad to hear this as I did know he was having some health problems. Buddy was one of my all time favorite players and a hero. I was fortunate to get to jam with him several times over the years and really meant so much to me just to sit beside him. I can't tell you how many hours I have spent trying to learn his licks and arrangements. Our prayers go out to his family. I have a great picture of us jamming together in 1967 when I was 20 years old which is something I will always treasure. We actually jammed all night until the sun came up the next morning.

Like others have already mentioned he was one of the all time Greats of steel guitar and was one of my all time heroes.
His L.P. "Almost To Tulsa" with Leon Rhodes and the Texas Troubadors was just some of the best music ever! Well, We've lost a another GREAT STEEL PLAYER!
May GOD comfort his family and close friends!
Our prayers are with them and all of his loved ones!

I am so very sorry to hear about Buddy's passing! He was one of my very favorite pedal steel players! I am so sorry I never got the privilege to meet him. I sent him cards over the past few years and I hope he enjoyed them. He was truly a great inspiration to me! May he rest in Peace knowing he had a life well lived!

For those of us that "cut our teeth" listening to the great pioneers of the pedal steel guitar, such as Buddy C., this really hurts to see our heroes leave us. God bless Kay Lee and the rest of the Charleton family. One of the best has now gone home.
