Sho-Bud Pedal Bar Sleeve Question

Post by Andy Sandoval »

Howdy guys, I've got an early 70's Sho-Bud Professional with the wide pedals. I like to play the C6 neck non pedal style so I restrung it with only 8 strings and removed all the C6 pedals from the pedal bar. When I removed the 4th pedal I had to improvise a spacer to take up the slack on the pedal bar rod and used a 1/2 drive spark plug socket with a few more washers as a temporary fix, but the socket inside diameter is larger than the pedal sleeve diameter. Any of you mechanical minded players got a better idea for a more permanent fix?

I just had a similar issue with mine, but I took a piece of aluminum round stock and turned it down to 7/8 inch diameter and bored a 1/2 hole through it, and it was good to go. You may find some 1/2 aluminum conduit and cut a piece out of it. Let me know the length you need and I'll look around for a piece to fit it.

pedal bar spacer

Post by Andy Hinton »

I use the little part of the front legs. If it,still there when I get a new steel,I always cut the excess off & replace it with a wooden dowel so my front legs are always the right length. Looks nicer with a chrome spacer than black or white plastic.JMO. Andy H.

Thanks for all the ideas guys. I'm gonna try and find an old pedal that I can cut the sleeve out of, then grind it down smooth to match the other pedal sleeves. Anyone got an old broken pedal lying around they're willin to part with?

Rather than trash a pedal you should be able to get a piece of pipe that you could cut to the length you need . 3/4" pipe should do it as it is 3/4" inside diameter .
