I just wanted to take a minute to brag on our buddy, Mike Brown. We all know and appreciate what he does for the steel guitar community. Saturday night in Dallas, he went above and beyond for the International goup - scheduling the Peavey Room for a two-hour "International" jam. We didn't have to bribe him, pay him, threaten him - NOTHING.

Tony and Lyn Davis from Australia, Joey Ace from Canada, Lonnie Bennett and Dan Tyack are a few who sat in on the jam. Lonnie and Dan are international in the sense that their playing is out of this world! (I know, that was lame ) There was so much going on from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., that some of the international folks weren't able to stop by. We were disappointed you couldn't join us.

Shortly after the jam, I noticed Mike Brown sitting in the back with his guitar. I asked him to play - And he did. He plays guitar well, and has a very soulful NICE voice. We all should hear more of it!

Again, Mike - thanks so much for the hospitality. It was a special time spent with friends, that otherwise would not have happened. We all appreciate what you do!
Donna

Aw shucks, I missed it. There's just too much going on at the same time at these shows.

Janice, you had the courage to get up and enjoy yourself. That's more than I did and I've taken a good lesson from you.

Thank you Mike.

Yes, Thank You Mike Brown. I couldn't make it to Dallas this year and Mike was kind enough to round up a few pickers and give me a call with an update of what was going on. I hated having to miss the International Jam and the rest of the show. Sounds like it was a great time. Thanks Donna for sharing the picture.

It was a blast. Thanks Donna, Mike and everyone else involved. Thanks to John Fabian for loaning me a new Carter for the Jam.

For those of you with a Hi Speed Internet connection, here's a 2 MB MP3 of one of the songs that night: http://joeyace.com/audio/sw2006.mp3

The lead players are Lonnie and me. The organ is really Tommy's Zum.

We'll do it again next year with Albert Talley's approval. I enjoyed what I heard of the jam as it included many different playing styles, and that, in my opinion is what it is all about. I will try to make more folks aware of it next year so that you can make plans to attend.

This was Donna and Tommy Dodd's idea and it brings a bit of flavor to the whole mix.

Thanks to those who attended.

Let me add my "thanks" to Mike, Kimbo and the Peavey Co. for supplying me with the great Peavey KB-5 keyboard amp that I used on stage.
Sincere Thanks,

Glad to do so, Roy. It was good to "hear" you and see you and Barbara as well. Let's do it again next year.

At Donna's request, the lovely Lynn Davis led the above cast in a memorable rendition of
Will The Circle Be Unbroken.

The MP3 file is 2.1MB

Thanks to Tommy, Donna, Mike, and everybody else who helped put this together. I had a blast, and hope to participate next year.

That Peavey tube amp (Mike, maybe you can help me with the model name) is a *killer* lap steel amp. I loved it!
