Very interesting. Lot's of tone-tweaking features, 2 parametric EQs for mids, contour knob, compression, headphone jack, etc. And the price is right.
Anybody tried these with pedal steel? |

The freak response on the Carvin is 60-20,000 Hz so it's really a lot more than just a bass amp. It may be missing a bit of the lows for some bass players but would be killer for steel I'd think.
It's just getting impossible to decide what amp I would buy if I were starting all over again. This Carvin with a 15" extension cab would be pretty cool and not a lot of $$$ or weight.

Looks like everybody is jumping on that little micro system. Carvin offers one also. There's has a tube and a parametric EQ section. Ampeg has one too. etc, etc.
I have a Fender Jazz Ultra Light that is extremely light. You can hold the pre amp...which has effects built in...and the 12" speaker with one finger (each). I got it to take on the road to have something small to haul to the dressing room and practice, but that seemed to cut into my golf so I'm probably gonna sell it.
Terry Bethel came by the house one day and he and I cut Burning Memories together and I used that little amp. Perfect amp for church or rehearsals of small gigs...especially with effects built in. |

Just wanted to keep this thread alive. Anyone try the Carvin MB15 micro combo yet? Interested in how the Carvin neodymiun 15" speaker performs compared to speakers like the SICA and others. Looks like the upper freq response of the speaker is a little limited for steel use, maybe why they're using the tweeter. But $369 for a 250W rig ready combo with a 15" speaker at 32 lbs. sounds pretty tempting. _________________ Thom Ferman

It's been almost a year since this thread was active - anybody get a chance to try the Carvin MB15 with steel yet? They're on sale right now for $349 - looks like a nice little unit for the price.

I'm seriously looking at the BX250... I was going to go with the GK MB200 but this is worth considering, especially with the tweakable mids. I have a Black Widow kicking around, all I need is a cab and one of those small bass amps and I would have a second kit in case my Nashville 400 craps out... |

That 60-20,000 would be a deal-killer, or at least a problem, for C6 guys. 10th string A is 55 Hz.
Those micro amps do look and sound good, though _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

With the low end response at 60Hz, how does this amp which is targeted primarily at bass players, perform with bass guitar with the low end at 40Hz for a standard 4 string and 30Hz for a 5 string bass? I wonder if the frequency limitation is in the amplifier or the speaker design? |

Let's not take things too literally, guys.
I'm guessing that the response is more or less flat down to 60, and then it begins rolling off. I'm also pretty sure the amp will work acceptably at lower frequencies...or it wouldn't be much of a bass amp. |

Thinking of pulling the trigger on one of these- since it looks like nobody's tried one yet, anyone have any thoughts on working with the dual paramid EQ?
I'm thinking leave Mid one flat and unattenuated , and use mid 2 like the shift on a Peavey, but what do I know? |

I think I'd turn the bass down a smidge and give a bit of boost to the lower mids _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
