Seems like I've heard that you can replace the magnet from a 15" Black Widow with the new neo magnet and substantially lighten it. Is this a kit that Peavey sells? How much - how difficult? _________________ 2022 Brook Lyn, 2014 Martin 000-18, 2022 Ibanez GB-10, two homebrew Teles, Evans RE200 amp, understanding wife of 49 years. 'Steeless' at the moment |

it's an rather easy change Skip
just have to make sure that you don't damage the voice coil when taking off & replacing magnets
the set screws for the neomag are shorter than the original ones
make sure you get them - i did'nt & had to get them
i got mine from Duane Dunard in Missouri
i forget right now how much : approx 130 $
you get approx 3.5 lbs less weight on the amp |

Skip,
When you remove or install the magnet, you need to
use a set of studs to keep it aligned as you pull
it and replace it.
Each time I remove a bolt, I replace it with a stud.
that way the magnet does not get away from me and
stays in alignment coming and going.
Not my original idea, someone posted that on the
forum in the past.
I have a set of studs and will give them to you
either on the 18th at the Manasota jam or sooner
if that is too long.

Hey Skip, Johnny Bondz has the neo-magnets in stock.
He's planning on being at the jam Wed. If you like, I can ask him to bring one to the jam.

Thanks, Fred, but I'm going to hold out for the SICA lightweight speaker, I think. _________________ 2022 Brook Lyn, 2014 Martin 000-18, 2022 Ibanez GB-10, two homebrew Teles, Evans RE200 amp, understanding wife of 49 years. 'Steeless' at the moment |

While Blake's posting about using studs is a good one, I have replaced a fair number of magnets just lining the magnets up by eye sighting down the bolt holes and fortunately have not had a problem. |

Hey Skip, I know where you can get a Sica already mounted in a brand new cabinet! It just happens to have am MB200 in there, too! |

The BW neo(and BWX) magnets are machined, therefore the magnets and baskets will retrofit. |

I thought I had read somewhere that it would shave off about 7 pounds. I too was considering going this route but if the net result is 3 pounds, to me it's hardly worth it. Can someone clarify exactly what the weight difference is?
thanks

I decided to go with a stock BW for the time being and maybe switch magnets later. Thanks for all the help! _________________ 2022 Brook Lyn, 2014 Martin 000-18, 2022 Ibanez GB-10, two homebrew Teles, Evans RE200 amp, understanding wife of 49 years. 'Steeless' at the moment |
