On my Emmons all pull. The pedals and a few of the KLs don't quite "engage" immediately..there is some "take up" before they begin changing the pitch of the strings. Should I fix this?

Again - newbie with newly acquired steel.

Thanks!

John, there are back stop screws in the pedal crossbars. Use your 7/64 Allen wrench and turn them in a bit. If you go too far your open tuning will be affected. I like a little slop in mine so if I touch the pedal the string doesn't change. Your left moving Knee levers also have a back stop. Again, I leave a little slop in mine. The right moving Knees are not adjustable. It has to done by changing the activator rod holes.

With the exception of the 9th string drop, I try to have all my pulls start at the same time. Play around with the Bell Crank holes if you have to.
I hope this helps. Email me if you need any additional help.

Doug.

The quickest way to ruin a properly set-up steel is to try to eliminate all the slack in the pedals and levers. DON'T DO IT!!
