Those are all great players. My opinions change depending on who I heard last, but Joe Wright may be the most versital picker I've ever heard. I'd be surprised if there was a style or genre he couldn't play and play well. Bill Stafford has a computer hidden in that Excel somewhere, that's the only way he could play all those big beautiful chords. Wish I'd been there.

Gary, you are so right. Joe is a great player and entertainer, and definitely one of the nations top players in my opinion. And as far as burning it up, you played so fast last night until I had to do a double take. Your tone was great, and as usual, your lick delivery was perfect. It was a highlight for me to get to sit next to Mr. Tony Lane, one of my idols. I love to watch Mr. Tony pull off those great C6th licks and play lead guitar. He is a good singer also. Mr. Ben O'Dell was in the house. He is always great to be around and plays several instruments, what a great guy and musician. Mr. Smooth Bill Stafford brought the house down as usual with his smooth and stylish playing. My friend Bert Courrege had a killer tone on his old model push pull Emmons, boy I wished I had his tone. My friend R.J. Buras played not only some great steel, but knock out lead! Way to go R.J.!! Paul Pearson is just good, everything he plays sounds good! My friend Mr. Herby Stewart stood the hair up on my neck several times last night with his flawlessly smooth playing. This guy is as smooth as silk! Thanks to the guys in the backup band, all great, and to Mr. Herman Wainwright for helping to put on a great show. I appreciat being invited to play with such fine people and musicians. Great people, great show. I recommend the Gospel Opry to anyone who has not seen it. Thanks again for inviting me! And by the way Gary, "SHOW ME SOMETHIN"!!!! |

Last week it was Mardi Gras here with shouts of' throw me something mister! Last night at the Gospel show it was me shouting, show me something mister! ..Man what a great Gospel show it was. The house was packed and the players were hot. Mr Bill Stafford done his wonderful renditions of Ten Thousand years, It also had about that many chords, and next was softly and tenderly Jesus is calling..man, Bill almost had Ben at the alter. Thanks Bill for your support of the Cintronel Gospel Opry.
Next came A good friend Mr. Burt Correge Playing his Emmons D10 PP He had it singing.
This guy is coming on strong, Thanks Burt for you support. I looked over Yonder and what did i see,, man the house was on fire and somebody was screaming get the fire extinguisher..Danny Harrell's guitar was literally smoking, Thanks danny for coming to cintronel and being part of the gospel opry..and thanks to your Mother and Dad as well for there support.
Out from behind the curtain came a clown ..looked more like a midnight train rider, or could it be RED SKELTON..wich ever, when Mr. Theawfulless appeared the crowd went into histerics, man it was funny and the cameras were lighting up the house from every direction. Now his first song was FIDO the dog. and you know what happened then, standing ovation and smiling faces across the auditorium, from there on out Joe Wright had Captivated his audience as well as his fellow steelers and musicians. the show was such a great success, Thanks Mr Joe Wright for coming to Cintronel Alabama gospel Opry show. The Local steeler gang grouped up after joe and Gary moore kicked it off with I'll fly away. that gary always kind and ready to show you something about that guitar. man he was pickin. many more steelers i will mention on my next post and tell you more about the Gospel oprey show, till then.

Twas a great show. Thank you Herman and all the gang up there in Citronelle for inviting me and helping me out in so many ways.
Joe Wright did in fact captivate the crowd up there, (AS USUAL). After all the players had their turn, Joe joined them all on stage for a close of the show that was unforgetable. That 10:00 pm close came too early. That set should've lasted at least another hour. MAN !!!!!
It was also good to see my good friend, "Van Zirkle" and his Mom at the show. And as usual, Van knocked-um dead.
R.J. if you happen to come across a pretty blue, (NEW) guitar strap, please tell it to come home. Ha !!!
Thanks again to the Citronelle Gospel Opry for the invite. It was truly an honor to be with you folks.

Hi Ben, I looked around for you at the end of the show and you were gone ..well there on my guitar lay that pretty blue strap you loaned me..thanks for the loaner. Hope there's no rent, won't see you till april unless i get to pascagoula shortly. I'll try not to wear.....it out!! and yes we enjoyed Van Wrinkle..i mean Van Zurcle, Van did a superb job behind Joe Wright. Ben you didn't do bad yo-self. Herman Wanwright put a good show together. hope to see it done again real soon . Maybe we can get Miss Lana down a little further South for the next one. maybe a peanut butter-Jelly sandwich by miss Dot Furgeson might entice her.
Ben i may be in Pascagoula bidding a job tuesday maybe we can meet for coffee and return that pretty Blue strap.
Yo- Friend
