He was a wonderful man and musician who will be missed.
I've been reading the journal and today before I opened it I took a deep breath.
Dave was such a great guy, I am so happy to have spent some time with him and get to know him a little, as well as listen to him play a few times. He will be sorely missed by many. He was such a great musician and man.
I really breaks my heart that just a few days ago Dave bought one of my video lessons, as sick he was.
I will always treasure this first time I met him and he asked if I'd play rhythm guitar for him.

So many stories...
Dave and the Hula Monsters. He showed that the dobro could just ROCK. He and Dave Chappell on telecaster just going at it!!
Condolences to Pam and the boys.
I'll be thinking of Dave for quite a while.

This news makes so very sad. Dave was one of the highlights of the 2009 ResoSummit. I was hoping and praying that I'd get to see him play again.
My condolences and prayers go out to his family and friends.

So so so sad. Things were looking up for him for a while there and we all had some high hopes that he'd pull through, but it was not to be.
When you loose a friend such as Dave, it really cuts deep. One never gets over it and just tries to cope with the loss, which in this case will be very difficult.

Dave was a dear friend. I can't tell you how much I will miss him. Dave and I started a band back in 1980 when we could play a gig and then stay up all night long jamming to perfect our licks and learn our craft. In between songs we would joke and laugh - the real gut buster laughs that you never forget! Dave had a great sense of humor. Dave loved to play dobro and he was just as passionate about playing with novice pickers at a jam session as he was with pros. I loved that about Dave. My heart is aching today... I miss him so much.

My condolences to the family. This was quite a shock for me. Although I hadn't seen Dave in over 30 years, I always kept up with him through the "grapevine". We knew each other from the early Fredericksburg, Va. days.
God bless, and rest in peace my old friend.

Really sad news. Great player. I only knew of him from this video. My condolences to his friends and family.
