Topic: Careful what you think about before a gig... |

As I had finished setting my steel rig up at a gig in Sydney yesterday I did the thing where you stand back and admire the steel shining under the lights, and I thought to myself how much it would suck if my volume pedal string broke at a gig....
Sure enough during the second set as I ease into the steel break in I Sang Dixie I notice that I'm suddenly really loud. And yes, the string in the pedal had broken leaving me at top volume.
Next time I'll think what would happen if I played like Lloyd Green.... |

Hm....sorry to hear about the accident Damien...
Maybe we should both buy the Telonics volume pedal where string doesnt exist , only electronics and always works , never have to change the pot either...
I am thinking about this ! Maybe after Christmas !
Once i played gig in the city and was running late a bit, i quickly set up and as we were about to kick off in to the first song my steel just decided not to work at all ! In the midst of the panic, checked all the leads - all seems to be ok, next all the switches on the steel ok, did i select the E9 neck ,yes ...all the leads plugged in ...yes, again PANIC...solo coming up...had a look at the amp, volume turned up...yes...gain...fine...then someone yelled from the crowd...TURN THE AMP ON MATE....and all the lights came on , yes yes ...you fool ...didn't turn the amp on ...made complete fool of myself...i guess another lesson for being late at the gig and setting up the last minute! LOL ...Cheers

It always helps to have some kinda backup plan or another control in your car or on the bus. It may take a while to get used but that one time will be

Tomi has it sorted - get a Telonics pedal ....but don't forget to take the power supply to the gig 
Tomi the big switch on the right hand side of the amp needs to be in the "down" position !!! Don't worry I did a similar thing and looked down to see I hadn't plugged the power supply in to my volume pedal....

| If you can, always carry an extra pedal. I always carried two Fender pedals that I aquired in the 60's. If you have extra string the pedal can be restrung but it is very time consuming. |

I plugged my guitar into the headphone jack, once at an outside Fireman's Field Day event. The bass player found it. Larry
