My old ones are beautifully chrome plated, and the pair I bought at Scotty's this year aren't. I asked Fran and she said they haven't changed?
And no, my old ones aren't shiny from playing

The chrome plated ones were BJ's, [Buddy & Jeff]. They stopped selling those years ago.
I think the JF's are still the same nickel silver without the chrome plating.
I have some of the BJ's too, but all of the Jeff picks I have bought have been the unplated NS. |

I have two older pairs of JF metal picks and they are not chrome plated. |

I'll have to check. I was sure they said JF on them.

Of course I could be mistaken about chrome plated JF's. I know the ones I have are stamped BJ's.
Jeff may have offered some chrome plated ones at some time, but I've not ever seen them. 'Course I haven't seen 'em all |

My JF picks have a dull finish. I've had them for about 10 years - bought them from Jeff in St. Louis.
He wouldn't sell me 3. He said they come in pairs, no exceptions. I must have an extra one lying around somewhere. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

I still have a pair of 27 year old diamond ring chrome plated picks that I ordered from Jeff that long ago and they have BJ stamped on them. I also have a couple of sets of the JF that I've had quite a long time and they are just nickle silver. It's my understanding that he quit having them plated pretty early and went to his and Fran's initials instead of his and Buddy's. _________________ Zumsteel steel guitars, Telonics and Peavey amplifiers, GHS strings. |

I found this second pair at home. They look shinier in person. My originals and the latest ones are at the studio so I'll have to check.

I've also been using the same pair of JF picks for the last 10 or 11 years and they are not chrome plated. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Mike - You 're right. My diamond ring BJ picks are chrome plated, and the JFs are not. I clearly remember Jeff's "sales pitch" stating that the chrome plating would enable you to play faster. |

I know in the early 80's the picks were chrome plated. I used to help a friend of mine Lee Powell polish them during the process. They shipped them up several hundred at a time. Lee was friends with Buddy and Jeff. Back then I had a Red LDG that Buddy signed. Anyway the picks they made together around 1983 or 84 were chrome plated. |

Do the ones in my pic look plated? Like I said, they are much shinier in person.

I have a pair of the old Oahu "Professional" picks that these are evidently copies of. They are chrome plated.

Ha Bob, you are right on about the photo, I should have used my Canon ESO 20D with my micro lens. I'm just getting lazy at my old age. |
