I removed the logo sticker from a Carter once. No problem at all. It just peels off.
The front of the guitar looks so much better, cleaner, without that big oval sticker on it. As a Forum member once said... It looks like it belongs on a water heater, not on a steel guitar. 8)

I already have discarded the carter fretboard and use a nice white shobud one I got from Coop. Sop putting the emmons decal should be ok and not hurt the sound!!

Put a John Deere sticker on it - keep 'em all guessing! :D
The steel guitar is a hard mistress. She will obsess you, bemuse and bewitch you. She will dash your hopes on what seems to be whim, only to tease you into renewing the relationship once more so she can do it to you all over again...and yet, if you somehow manage to touch her in that certain magic way, she will yield up a sound which has so much soul, raw emotion and heartfelt depth to it that she will pierce you to the very core of your being.

I would leave the Carter logo on there to show my respect for the builder. If you like your steel well enough to play it in public than be proud of it.

I have a brand new MCI sticker. I could use that especially since Bud Carter had a hand in making both guitars.

I agree with this. And if you do take off the logo, I think it's kind of disrespectful to put another builder's logo on it.

I had the same idea to put a Sho-Bud fretboard and an Emmons logo on my black Carter s-12, kind of as a joke. I abandoned the plan after John Fabian died out of respect as Bob Hoffnar mentioned above, but lately I had been thinking about it again, in anticipation of Pearl-o-jam.

I also want to give props to Ward's custom job. (I used to have a Ford badge on my Mesa Boogie amp.) I need a mud flap girl like that for mine. Also props to Russ' "Bud Carter" idea.

Wow, never underestimate the affect of a shiny silhouette of a naked woman in a suggestive pose. Thanks for the compliments, but that ain't mine. It belongs to an irreverent friend who obviously has been hanging out at truck stops too often.:)

go-kat-go.

Go to "search site" and type 'trucker girl'. It's the mini trucker girl for $9.99. He says it doesn't help his playing but truckers honk when they drive by.

Why don't you replace it with a picture of a newt?
This one's kind of cute:

I hope I'm not drifting too much, but during the days of the Nixon administration I had a "Supro" amp, and by careful use of an Exacto knife and some glue on the plastic name plate, I managed to spell "Spiro" amp.

It got a few laughs for a few months. I guess you had to be there.

I agree with Bob Hoffnar. If you are happy with the guitar, you should leave the logo in place so people can see what you're playing. If some people diss you for playing a Carter because of their feelings about our former president, that just shows how stupid and foolish they are. And if you are ashamed to be playing a Carter, then play something else.
