I probably play it wrong but on E9th I start on the5th fret 8th string open then7th string open 6th open then 6th B pedal 5th string back to the 6th then 7th???? I don't have my guitar in front of me so I could be way off...I alternate between my thumb and pointer finger,I've seen people use the 3rd finger and thumb.

Then I jump up to the 12th fret for the part that's in the key of E.

Aki, another way of getting that part in A is to go to the 8th fret and use your A pedal and F knee lever and play the strings in this order...
5 2 4 1 3 1 4 2 .... 5 2 4 1 3 1 4 2
5 2 4 1 3 1 4 2....1 2-----(let this note ring a little
I learned this years ago from Tommy Roots.....JH in Va.
