i bought a dusenberg pomona last week. my plan was to put it in c6. i didn't do enough research and found out these don't work so great with lighter strings.
so i have it in open d and e. and keep it in d most of the time and use the capo for open e. im a resophonic player mainly. so these tuning's feel at home. At first i was bummed. but after playing around on it for about 5 hour's a day the last few day's i love the thing, and got the hang of the lever's.
besides open e/d/g/ what are some other tuning's i could try with this heavier string set that work with the multibender's. im new to lap steel so anything would help. thanks to all |

I think that's about it Drew. I have tried everything I could think of. I even installed the spring to lower the notes instead of raising them, but that didn't work very well at all. The company was pretty unapologetic about it too, telling me I would have to return the unit to Germany for them to study it and figure out why it wasn't working.
At the end of the day I don't really care. The benders, as they are, do what I want them to do.
As for alternative tunings I suppose you could try E7 -- but because E7 has the same gauges as C6,the last three string gauges would be too thin and hence, bend too far.
Altho... I wonder if you could jerry-rig an extension (perhaps a nut of some kind) to the bottom of the bender post so it can only bend as far as you need it to. A thought....

| oh well. im pretty happy so far. it's doing exactly what i need it to do and sound's great. ive read some of the post on here from the guy at duesenberg and im the type of guy this was made for. took me a few days to get the hang of it. im using it for more texture running it into a eventide harmonizer. just me and a acoustic guitar singing heart broke country songs, and this thing. and its just sounding crazy good. |

C6 didn't work for me, either, but I'm quite happy with the E6 tuning I finally settled on (BC#EG#BE lo-to-hi, with benders for G#->A and B->C# (for those I-IV moves, as well as for getting minor chords); depending on whether you play rather bluesy or old-timey, you could tune the 5th string either to a 6th or a dom7th - I have a third lever on that string that takes the C# to D to give me both options, but frankly, I rarely ever use it... |
