I just received an email from a Steve L.
It's a photo of myself and Barry Sless back in the mid 70's at Latella's in Jessup, MD. I believe this was before Cowboy Jazz. I was with the Paradise Pickers, and Barry was playing with No Foolin'. It was a benefit with many bands. I don't recall, but I think Climb-A-Donkey, Great Train Robbery, Al Johnson and the North Star Band and Liz Myers and the Midnight Flyers were there too (not sure) .... for those that remember those old days. Barry and I are seated at each others PSG.

what young fellows, back in the days before we all got pack-seats...I first saw Danny Gatton when he was playing with Liz Meyers, that was a while back...I was working at Giant Music on Columbia Pike in 1972 and '73. |

Always considered myself fortunate to have had the chance to see two 90s era mid-Pacific shows by Kingfish (and Commander Cody), Barry on steel and guitar, and I didn't blow the chance! Still have the pix and recording, no T-shirt. First night they came on-stage straight from landing at the airport (next door) and rocked the joint til closing. |
