Our condolences to Rob's family. He will be sorely missed by all of us in the steel guitar family. He was such an awesome talent and so nice to Gayla and Me, we sincerely appreciated him. Gene & Gayla

I am so saddened to hear this.
I met Rob a few times at ISGC and he was charming, friendly and a fine singer, who could work a room with the best. A severe loss for the steel com, unity.
RIP Rob you made many happy with your singing and personality.

Well, I too am shocked and saddened at the sudden loss of Rob. He was a staple at the steel guitar shows and a great singer with that deep rich voice of his. Always kind and friendly. I will sure miss seeing and visiting with him at future shows. May his family be comforted in their time of sorrow. Rob we love you buddy.

Mr Rob Parker
Our prayers are with the friends and family. He will be the most missed person at any steel show that is held anywhere in the United States.
The first time I met Rob was in St Louis in 2006. Never met a more friendly and real Gentleman. Went to his table and was amazed at The albums and tracks available. He knew more songs than anyone I have ever met. And he sang them all with a soft, powerful passion filled rendition, of any song he sang. He made every song he sang his and added to it with his melodious highs and lows.
The First time I got to go to Nashville's show was this year and Rob was there doing all he could to add to everyone's enjoyment. He sang with many of the best steelers in the world and helped them dig into their souls to the delight of both of them.
Rob had to sing from the floor because his legs were giving out on him. Yet he struggled to every call to help all the artists who called on him. I went into the foyer and had prayer with him for strength and circulation in his legs. Little did I know it would be the last time I would see an hear him.I would have said so much if only I had known.
Please tell all who you know and love how much you appreciate and love them. You never know when you will see them again. I always told Rod how much I loved and appreciated him. As I sit here with tears in my eyes at his loss, I know I'll see him again, but at this moment it hurts so much knowing he's gone. And I wish I had said so much more to "The Voice of the Steel Conventions"
Rob will be waiting for us who have made arrangements to meet him, with a smile and that glorious resonant voice.

The first time I met Rob he asked me my name and shook my hand. Every time I saw him thereafter he called me by name and shook my hand. He always treated me as if I was somebody special even though I am not. I'm not the only one he treated that way as I've seen him do it to everyone he came in contact with. Truly a gentleman and I will miss him greatly. He was and still is highly respected in my book.

I don't remember if Rob and I were formally introduced, but like everyone has said, every time we met, he greeted me like I had brightened his day a little. His family, and all of us can take comfort in that on Tues Nov,16/2010 our brother Rob Parker heard the voice of Jesus say...."Come on in".
Papa John Hughey, Charles Reece, Rob Parker, Saluda will be sad this weekend...

I just found this thread and I am so shocked to hear that Rob is gone. He was such a great player, master of ceremonies and fountain of knowledge.
I'm used to seeing him at Baxter Springs every year...it won't be the same without him there.
God bless you Rob Parker...you sure were a jewel!!!

When Rob told me his age at the last steel show I saw him, it was three years younger than me. Well, old buddy, the jokes on me. Actually, Rob was ten years OLDER than me. He pulled another one of his jokes and I bit. I'll really miss Rob. He was a great friend. Won't be the same at the big steel shows without his great voice, hearty laugh, gentleman personality, and warm smile. It will be a long time, if ever, we hear golden tones from someone like Rob Parker. RIP my friend. God grant you piece. You and Papa John can now jam for eternity.
