Louie Hallford had left the news on my answering machine of Rob's passing. One message I didn't want to hear but at the same time glad that he got to enjoy his life up to the last. What an AWESOME GOD we have to know when our work here on earth is done and a much greater place is prepared for us. RIP Rob till we all meet again. Our prayers for your family from the SSSGC.

Ruth and I are saddened at the loss of our friend. He brought so much joy, humor and talent to all of us. There will be a big void at all the shows I go to now. I will miss my old buddy!

I think we should have a red sock day at the Dallas and St Louis shows next year in honor of Rob!

Brother Rob, you knew I loved to play Newbury's Sweet Memories, and I knew you loved to sing it. I thank my Lord and Savior that He let us be together for those moments.

I will keep those Sweet Memories stored away for a short time.

And then I will treasure the day He allows us to play it again. I'll see you on the other side.

Rob, my friend and brother, I will miss you so much... I cherish the times we shared onstage and off, the meals together, the laughs, and all of it that comes with being part of the steel convention family.

I know you're now being welcomed by Hal, Papa John, Ben, Bobby, and all the others we've lost in the past years. Sing well with them, my friend.

I'm stunned. Rob was always there for steel players, and a very fine steel player himself. Many times Rob sang on my set at steel shows--I always knew it would be alright when Rob shared the stage with me. Rob was a man quick with encouragement for newr steel players, like myself. And oh what a fine voice Rob had. The highlight of the steel shows for my wife--to hear that wonderful voice singing a Ray Price tune. R.I.P. Brother Rob. James and Tree

I was unable to speak at first. I do want to add my sadness to everyone elses. He encouraged me twisted arms for me. Stood by me made me feel special. I know by all the wonderful posts. He was a gift to all of you as well. I will so miss him. When he would call He would say Hello Darrrrllin'. He had a voice made to be heard. A character for all to strive for. A friend, a talent, a giver. I love you and miss you my dear friend...Jean DeVore
