This is sad news. We just saw Rob in Lexington. I will miss him.

Rob was a multitalented guy. He was a an excellent singer and M.C. I hadn't heard him play steel until 3 years ago and I was totally impressed with his thumb style on C6th. He was so gracious and complimentary after I finished my set in Marshfield Missouri. Another void that can't be filled in the steel guitar family. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Albert Talley just called us with the sad news. We are still in shock. We will always treasure the memories of the wonderful times we had with Rob. He was a great friend to all of us. Heaven is just a little brighter because he is there. We will miss you, dear friend, and one day soon we will join you in the heaven.

I was so sorry to read this sad news. Rob was good friend, and I'll miss seeing him at the shows. My sincerest condolences to Rob's family.

Tommy and I are deeply saddened by the news of Rob's passing. He was kind and gentle - and had a beautiful spirit. Rob treated everybody like family. He will be sorely missed.

A good mutual friend of mine and Rob's just called me a few minutes ago and told me that Rob had left us. Like everyone here I am in shock.
Rob Parker and I first met and quickly became friends when he came to help MC, sing and play his steel on our first Marshfield Steel Guitar Show only five years ago. After that he came to every show we had, and was such a great help for our show being a success.
Like others mentioned he was such a multi-talented person. Like Dennis Detweiler said, I too was amazed and enjoyed his Thumb style steel guitar playing. When it came to singing, he was one of the best ever. I commented to him and Mike McGee both after they worked together last spring at the Siloam Springs AR steel show, how great they sounded together. The song they did, it was a classic by Ray Price and Emmons, and well they just "nailed it" as we say here in the Ozarks.
I refuse to remain sad now though, because I believe Rob is with JESUS now and playing and singing away!
GOD's word tells us that "Precious in the sight of The Lord, his the death of His saints." See precious, cause Rob is with Him now!
May GOD comfort and bless Rob's family, and many, many friends!
We love you Rob!

| I am also devestated to hear the Rob has passed away. I invited him to come on stage and sing with me at the Lexington show. It was the frist time that I heard him having to sing in two registers. Part of the song in the high register and then having to drop his voice to the lower register. He was part of the International Steel Guitar Convention for many, many years. He was added to the Emcee duty several years ago. He was not only a fine singer but also knew all the players and if anyone could qualify for that job it was Rob. I will miss him so much. Scotty |

Indeed this is sad news. Rob's sister, Kathy, called us around 3:30pm this afternoon to give us the sad news. Rob was a huge part of the steel guitar community and a very dear friend of Barbara and myself. He is now in Our Lords's heavenly choir and will certainly be missed by those of us who are still here. Our sincere condolences go out to his entire family.

This is so sad to read. Rob was a wonderful friend and always
treated me like a brother. He was always a big part of every
steel guitar show I've attended for the last 20 years or so.

| What do you say at a time like this? We loved him, and we'll miss him like we would any other member of the family. And Rob was indeed family. He graced the stage with anyone that would ask him, and would perform his heart out for you. My prayers are with the family, for them to know that Rob is safe and secure in our Lords loving arms. What am I going do without the O'l Pro?
If Rob was at a show where I played,I always had him to open my set by singing my first song,always a C6 Western swing thing, so my nerves would settle down. After he got me relaxed I was always ready to move over to the E9 neck for my country and gospel songs.
Rob I will never forget the emotions that stirred within me when you sang with Jerry and Venda Hendley at the church service in Baxter Springs Kansas a few weeks ago.Never have I seen you sing more emotionally than you did that Sunday morning as your heart broke from the emotional words of that great gospel song,WHEN HE WAS ON THE CROSS I WAS ON HIS MIND.
I am not embarassed to say I wept with you. God Bless you in your new eternal home. |

| First time I went to Saluda, as everybody was leaving, tired, satiated with steel guitar music, Rob was putting a new set of strings on Brett Day's Emmons. So I don't remember Rob for the thousands of songs he knew, or his emcee work. I remember Rob changing Brett's strings. May Rob rest in peace. |

Rob was a good friend and a frequent guest in our home. He was always a joy to have around. Thanks to Mitzi Grantham for the many pictures she has given us with Rob here at the jams in our home. We have many videos also of Rob and we'll continue playing these. We were privileged to record 3 gospel albums for him. He had a tremendous voice and he will certainly be missed at the steel shows! May the Lord be near Rob's family and give them strength and help during this sad time!

This is such sad news. I talked to Rob on the phone many, many times - but never had the pleasure of meeting him face-to-face.
