I regret to announce that Doyle Huff of the Tulsa area passed away last evening Jan 14th. He had played a gig, came home and sat down to visit with his wife and went just as quickly.
Pray for his wife Sue and the family for strength during this sorrowful time in their lives. |

This is certainly a shock. I have known Doyle for many years and he was one of my very favorite people in the steel guitar community. I just saw and visited with him in St. Louis this past September. Our prayers go out to his family at this sad time.

How sad to hear that we've lost another steel guitar playing friend. Siloam Springs has lost 4 members (Ivan Ward, Willard Mullen, Woody McCain, and Nathan Womble) and now our good friend Doyle.
I had only been acquainted with Doyle for a couple of years but every time I saw him he had that friendly smile. I enjoyed his playing and visiting with him and appreciated the class he taught in Siloam Springs in December.
He was a fine gentleman.
May God comfort his family as only He can.
Rest In Peace Doyle.

I, we at the PSGA, have known Doyle for many years. He always helped us out at our booth, at Scotty's show in St. Louis. He played at our PSGA show in Connecticut a few years ago, also. He was a true gentleman, a fine steel guitarist, and a great humorist.
We will miss him dearly. Our hearts go out to his family.
Sincerely,
John De Maille VP-PSGA |

Doyle was indeed a fine man and someone who I considered a friend. He was always nice to everyone. Now it seems strange that the last time I saw him, we hugged , wished each other a merry Christmas and I stepped back and said "God Bless you" and he just paused and said 'Thank You'. He was definitely one of the good ones. |

This is beyond shocking for me.
Doyle was the real deal and he and I had become good friends over the last few years.
Having breakfast togather at a lot of the shows we all went to, Doyle was the type of man you just enjoy knowing and calling him your friend.
I will miss him a lot! and I pray for his whole family that God will give them comfort at this sad time.

What a shock!!! Sue, you and your family are in our prayers. I met Doyle at the ISGC over 20 years ago and we were friends ever since. We always looked forward to seeing each other every year in St. Louis, and more recently at the Tulsa steel shows. Doyle was indeed a good friend and wonderful person. He would call me occasionally when he was in KC, and I just spoke with him about a month ago. I thank God, we had that conversation.
Let's all take a moment to realize just how short life really is and enjoy everyday our friends and loved ones.

What terrible news. Doyle was my good friend since the 1970's. He was a dedicated member of the PSGA and a volunteer worker assisting us at our booth in St. Louis every year at the ISGC. In addition to his talent playing steel he also had a fine sense of humor, never uttered a bad word, was a fine family man and a great human being. Our deepest sympathy to Sue, the twins, and the rest of Doyle's family. I'm so grateful that Doyle phoned me on Christmas Eve to say Merry Christmas, as he's done every year.
May he rest in peace and may eternal light shine upon him. I'll certainly miss him.
