How do I upgrade pro tools 8 to 8.04?

Post by Scott Henderson »

I found the updater for MAC OSX but I can't find the upgrade to 8.04...
So far not impressed with AVIDs support.
Any help would be appreciated. Love PT 8 when it works but mostly get the "Spinning wheel of death"....and DAE errors
HELP!!!

Hi Scotty,

The Avid website is pretty difficult to navigate. I just filled out a little survey today and let them know about it haha.

Here's the cs updates page:

I hope you got it figured out. It sounds to me like you grabbed the wrong cs update (HD vs. LE).
If you are still having trouble shoot me an email with the particulars and I bet we can get it working.

I found out myversion of PT is 8.03 so I upgraded it. HAven't tried it yet. Hope that all I need to do. I was getting a CPU usage error. I'll try it this morning and we'll see what happens. Thanks David

ok reformatted the external hard drive, got the upgrade happening, and disabled the sleep mode on the external hard drive and my mac drive...it's getting better. Still have an occassional CPU error but not as bad as it was. I'm starting to like this pro tools stuff...So much easier to edit than on my ROLAND. And of course it's got that PT sound. I'm diggin it.

Scotty,
The settings/preferences are pretty important for performance with Protools. There are a bunch of them... a lot of research may be needed to understand them all. If you have specific question I may be able to help. At one time I was very proficient in how PTLE should be set up. Some things have changed since I was being taught but I still have a pretty good understanding of what is what in there.
