As we were having a get together at the Bluegrass Inn, I was able to take in some of the great music at Roberts right next door. This was about the third time that I had heard Carco Clave play and I really enjoyed him. This time he had a homemade lap steel that flat rocked. He has a C6th tuning and he does know how to get around on that thing. He pulls strings with a finger on his left hand which give's sort of a pedal affect. Carco, we really enjoyed your playing. After Carco's band was done who takes the stage but the great Mike Jones. As we all know, Mike doesn't have to take a back seat to anyone on the pedal steel. What a lucky day. Yes, steel and pedal steel is still alive on Broadway. There were others but I didn't get their names. Thanks guys for some great steel music on Saturday afternoon on Lower Broadway in Nashville, Tenn.
