Can I use Ghost to duplicate a SATA drive for a backup?

Yes, use its clone feature at reboot to duplicate everything on your main hard drive on the backup hard drive. Make sure it has the same capacity, or larger.

Acronis True Image also does ghosting or cloning of disks. It is a poor man's manually created RAID.
