MSA Classic S-12 Pedal Steel – 4 & 5 - Extended E9

Post by Darvin Willhoite »

This steel is in very good condition, it has been rebuilt from the ground up. I bought it dis-assembled and partially restored and finished the job. All of the originally polished parts have been re-polished, everything has been thoroughly cleaned and lubricated. Except for a couple of very small body dings, it would pass for a new guitar.

It has the original MSA single coil pickup in it which gives it a nice bright E9th sound. Even though I don't play the Emmons pedal setup, I set this one up that way because it seems the most popular, especially to newer players. I have attached a JPEG of the pedal and lever setup, I can also email a PDF if necessary. It has the "Franklin" changes on the first pedal (or the "0" pedal, whatever you want to call it.) It has the original tone and volume controls, and they work fine. I modified the changer fingers to allow the newer raises, such as the full step on the first string.

The chrome legs are in excellent condition. It comes with an original MSA case which has an amplifier type replacement handle installed. The case is in good condition with no cracks. The leg tray inside, has a few cracks but is still very much useable. The foam in the top of the case has been replaced. An old leg bag is also included. I added the vertical knee lever, which is adjustable for height with the thumb screw shown in the picture.

I need $1200 for it, I would prefer a local sale of course, but I will ship it if I need to. Buyer would be responsible for the shipping charges. I will take Paypal, but the buyer would need to add 3% for the fee.

MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, as well as some older MSAs, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Recently added a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored blue Rose, named the "Blue Bird" to the herd. Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic again that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also added a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks.

It's mine!

Jeff K - CHFOL is now a double MSA band - if we can convince Ben to buy a steel (my BMI?) and get a drummer who also has a steel we could be a 5 steel band!

This is a great deal - probably a good idea I missed it. Twoulda been perfect, so Ida jumped on it. I'm waiting on a mortgage refi and the bank woulda said what's up with that? So hopefully something good'll come up again like this. Mixed blessings... Congrats to the new owner.
