Dean,
No real favorite on the windings. I basicly talk to anybody that orders one and do my best to make sure its the right sound for them.

John,
Legrande III's need a bit of modification to fit. The cabinet drop thing gets in the way in the pickup cavity. It needs to be ground down a little.

Bob, did u say that u r making some that fit the ShoBud super pro's now? I'm in the process of building a SPro with James's help and parts, oh and Bent and Martin (my mentors), and am looking at pickups . From the great reviews I've seem I'm def lookin at your aligners....thx ...Stormy

I've got a Tonealigner in my EMCI and I have had raves from several pros whose opinions I respect. I'm sure the PU is a big part of the tone.

Brick's EMCI, through a Brad Sarno Tonic preamp, into a TC Furlong powered amp/speaker, had one of the best sounds I've ever heard!

Bob Hoffnar, does your 12-string pickup fit a pre-RP Mullen?

The pre RP Mullen 12st steels are a pretty tight fit. I'm working on a 12st now for one. I'll let you know how it works out.

Just installed one in my Zum Hybrid for fun. After fiddling about with the adjustable pole pieces, it sounds great.

This is a pickup that is way more adjustable than any others. I have found them to be compatible with all
types of steels. Not muddy on the bass side and crisp
clear highs with good separation. AND Bob is a working steel man so you can talk to him about what you want
and get the feeling you are getting what you want.
Since he is working the road a lot, it may take a few
days if he doesn't have what you need on the shelf, but it's worth the wait.

Do keep me posted on the 12-stringer, Bob.

I have an original Danny Shields 12-string CrapTrap, but don't believe it fits into the narrow pickup cavity on my pre-RP, unfortunately.

Anyone know how hard it is to widen pickup cavities on steels? My Mullen has metal necks. Mickey Adams, speak up!

Its up to you if you want to change the pickup cavity on your steel. I would see if Jim Palenscar could do it for you.
