Very nice!!! That tone has hints of Dobro/Lap Steel in it. I found my self thinking how your part would have had a totally different vibe if you had played it on E9th, even if you played it in the same key I think the higher tension of the strings would have not allowed it to sound quite so lush!

Jim, I think that a lot of the tone of this guitar is in the low-impedance Truetone pickup and the unusual 8-string keyhead.

Beyond that, on this track I was experimenting with a "blackface" amp simulator that's built into the Roland VS-1880. I'm not sure that I like it - I may try another mix without it for comparison.

I listened to both the "remix" and the "crazy arms" tracks and IMHO both of those would have had me guessing it was a Fender 400 and a real good sounding one at that! A very classic vibe tone on both of those tracks. Kind of Mooney/Sneaky Pete-ish.
I would have to say that my choice for "you don't know me" would be the 1st mix with the BF simulator as it was a better sonic fit with the feel of the song for me.

Yeah, the guitar does sound a lot like a Fender, which also had an 8-string, low impedance pickup. Also, the copedent has elements of Sneaky Pete's, raised from B6th to D6th. The higher pitch would account for the Mooney-ish timbre.

I think that the new mix pops better than the old one, especially on cheap computer speakers.
